How to Eliminate Medical Bills Debt - Get Rid of Hospital and Medical Bill Debt Without Bankruptcy

By Adam Tijerina

If you want to learn how to eliminate your unpaid medical bill debt then you'll want to read this article. Eliminating your medical and hospital bills requires you knowing a little bit about dealing with unsecured creditors and how they will handle your negotiation requests. By the end of this article, you will know how to get rid of your medical bills without having to file bankruptcy.

Having tons of unpaid medical or hospital bills due to an unexpected emergency can cause anxiety and worry for someone just struggling to get by on a meager paycheck. You may think your only option is to file bankruptcy and free yourself from this huge financial burden.

While bankruptcy will discharge your medical debt, which will provide you some financial relief, it will also ruin your credit rating for up to 10 years. You may think that is so far away that you cannot think that far in advance. But when you have to deal with being denied credit for a car or home or not getting job offers because you have a bankruptcy on your record you may want to think twice before you go down that road.

There are alternatives to filing bankruptcy to eliminating your medical and hospital bills. One viable option that has worked for others is debt settlement. This is the same as credit card debt settlement but with your medical bills. You or a debt settlement company can negotiate with your creditors and aim for a fair settlement so each party is happy.

You will show the hospital or doctor that you cannot afford to pay what they are asking and if they do not accept your settlement offer then you will be forced to file bankruptcy and they will get nothing. So point out that it is in their best interest to accept a 50 or 60% settlement instead of getting nothing.

Remember, it is a negotiation so there will be offers and counter offers. Be prepared with evidence and logic of your proposed settlement. You don't have to take no for an answer. The hospital may just say no to the first offer as a way to weed out those who are not very persistent. You have to ask more than once. And do not forget to get everything in writing. Do not make oral settlements. Get it down on paper and have them sign it before you start making payments.

You can eliminate your medical bills on your own through debt settlement or you can hire a debt settlement company to do it for you and use their experience for you. Either way, you can reduce what you owe and avoid filing bankruptcy which works out better for everyone involved.

Learn how to eliminate debt without filing bankruptcy. You can also DIY debt elimination and save thousands off the cost of debt settlement companies.
